Once again, the UPCA contest blend will be McClelland 5100. This blend is a style of English Virginia that has seldom been seen in the United States. A sweet, exceptionally soft, fully rubbed matured cake.
As most of you know, McClelland has suspended production of 5100 due to poor quality of the Red Virginia tobacco in this year's crop. They then decided to go out of business. Fortunately, the folks at McClelland stashed some of last year's crop for use in our contest. So, we will be quite lucky to have aged 5100 in our pipes at this year's contest.
