Subject: Announcing the New UPCA Officers
From: Tom Wolfe

Congratulations to our new club officers

Although we once again did not have a quorum for our UPCA virtual meeting, it was decided by the clubs that were present to have member clubs that were not present to vote via email.  An additional 5 clubs voted by email.  The results were unanimous.  Let's welcome out new UPCA officers.

  • Kyle Bowen - President
  • Nathan Davis - Vice President
  • Andre Tessier - Secretary
  • Tim Garrity - Treasurer

The official minutes of that meeting are listed below.

As your former president, let me take this opportunity to thank Kyle and the other officers for their willingness to keep the United Pipe Clubs of America effective in promoting pipe smoking clubs in the USA.  Although I am no longer president, I plan to continue on as webmaster as long as you'll have me.

Recap of last meeting given by Tom Wolfe

Tom Wolfe States his intention of resigning. Making Nathan Davis Acting President. At this time we are waiting written notice.

Chuck Salser brings up the fact that Mike Starcher (candidate for UPCA President) resigned from The Tulsa Pipe Club 5 months ago. Thus his nomination is not a valid one as he is not a member of the UPCA.

Motion by Jay Furman to put regular rules aside with regard to the meeting due to lack of a quorum.

Motion by Doc Garr, Seconded by Nathan Davis to send an email to all club presidents to consent to putting Kyle in as President as he is unopposed. Nathan Seconds. It is a unanimous vote. Discussion ensues as to what the email should be sent out by Tom.

Eric Karloski brings up some information on the website as being incorrect. (Furniture City meeting time and officers) Discussion ensued as to how to change it and what needs changing.

Eric Karloski discusses the value of being a member of the UPCA. Furniture City Pipe Society would like to see the value of being in the group.

Discussion about the Furniture City Fast Smoke and the possibility of having an official Fast Smoke using their rules in the future.

Tom Wolfe starts a discussion about using the website more and starting a more active blog. Andre Tessier suggests opening the blog to more people and having a rotating staff.

Tom Wolfe brings up that there may be a problem with the Chicago Pipe Show and the Fire Marshal with regard to the smoking tent. If it does not happen a new host for the UPCA Slow Smoke Contest may be necessary. In the past Kansas City and Richmond have both expressed interest in the past as to hosting. Las Vegas was brought up as a possibility but apparently it could not be held on site. Andre Tessier offers to investigate the possibility of having it in the future while at the Richmond show at the end of the month.

Motion to Adjorn by Tom Wolfe Seconded by Kyle Bowen.
Motion carried unanimously.
