Using This Site

There are two sections to this short tutorial because Members are provided with additional capabilities to maintain their own profiles and upload their own photos thus making a visit to the site much more dynamic and interesting. Membership renewal is also an automated process that requires additional understanding.

ALL VISITORS

For your convenience, two significant functions are now available on line:

1. Membership Application with optional payment online.  

2. Chicago Show Activities Registration with optional payment online. Note that the Annual Meeting registration is shown as Free as it  does not have an admittance fee, but the Slow Smoke Championship does require an entry fee.

1. About UPCA.  Don't miss this section. It contains:

  • Past Annual Meetings
  • Past National Contests
  • Affliliation with CIPC
  • History
  • Declaration
  • Charter & Bylaws

2. Member Directory.  Provides an easy way to learn about all of our member clubs and associate members.  All member clubs are listed first. Merely click on the club name to see details about the club - contact person, meetings, activities, and website.

3. Annual UPCA activities in Chicago.  Offers details about the Annual Meeting and Slow-Smoke Contest along with registration and payment.

4. Pipe Events.  Rather than a calendar, we are using an events module which list events with whatever amount of detail is requested by the sponsor of the event. 

5. Learning Center.  A new way to offer web pages and documents covering a range of relevant topics. 

 

MEMBERS ONLY

Everything for all visitors applies to members as well.  The following sections explain the use of additional functionality available to members.

With this site you have the ability to maintain your own profile information and upload photos in up to 5 albums you create. In order to access these capabilities, you must login with your email and a password in the upper right corner above. Existing members must follow the next procedure.  It does not apply to new members who join using the member application function provided under the Membership tab.

[Since the password is controlled only by the member, your first step must be to use the "Forgot Password" function in the upper right section of the site. That brings up a form to enter your email - the one on record with the club. Submitting that email will cause an email to be sent containing a link to a password entry screen. Once you have entered the password, you will be able to login. 

After you have logged in, two items appear:
1. A link to View Profile under your name in the upper right
2. A Members Only menu item which turns on a second level menu bar that provides information available only to members.

View Profile

This function gives you full control of your profile information.
1. Show Profile
2. Edit Profile
3. Set privacy - access to specific pieces of your information
4. Control email material sent to you
5. Load photo albums

Member Directory

This function displays all members with a link to each profile. Two searches are provided for more selective access to specific members.  The Keyword Search uses only the name field. The Advanced Search allows selection from information in any field.

Membership Renewal.  This process is now automated.
 
Each year you will receive notification that your membership fee is due. To renew, you merely login, click on View Profile, and select the Renewal button.  You then have the option to pay online or to pay manually by mail.
